Charlotte Perriandシャルロット・ペリアン

フランスの建築家・デザイナー。
1925 年パリの装飾美術連合学校（エコールUCAD）を卒業後、自らのアトリエを開設。同年、サロン・ドートンヌに出展した「屋根裏のバー」で注目を浴び、これをきっかけにル・コルビュジエの事務所で前川國男や坂倉準三、ピエール・ジャンヌレらと共に働くことになります。その後、シェーズロングを始め、数々の名作をコルビュジエとともに世に送り出しました。

1940年には、坂倉準三の誘いで、輸出工芸指導の顧問として日本へ招かれ、1年余りの滞在期間に日本各地を柳宗理の案内でまわり、日本の伝統的な暮らしや美意識に深い感銘を受け、その後の作品に強く反映されています。
