日本の家具デザイナー Saburo Inui（乾三郎）によって、デザインされたアームチェア。

緩やかに湾曲した背もたれから左右へと広がるアームと、身体に沿うように成形された座面が特徴。
レザーで覆われた柔らかな曲線と、細身のスチールパイプによる脚部が対照的な構成となっています。

乾三郎は、商工省工芸指導所において剣持勇のもとで成形合板の研究に携わり、1954年には柳宗理の「Butterfly Stool」の製品化に向けた技術開発にも参加。

1958年に天童木工へ入社し、それまでに培った知識と技術を家具のデザインと製造に生かしながら、日本における成形合板家具の発展を支えました。

Tendo Mokko天童木工

1940年、山形県天童市で地元の大工や建具、指物職人たちによって創設された天童木工は、木工の技術を礎に、日本を代表する家具メーカーへと発展。終戦後、いち早く成形合板の技術を取り入れ、木材を曲げて形づくる高度な技術によって、軽さと強度を備えた家具づくりを追求してきました。

柳 宗理によるバタフライスツールをはじめ、剣持 勇、坂倉 準三、ブルーノ・マットソンなど、国内外の建築家やデザイナーとの協働を通じて、素材の可能性を引き出す数々の家具を生み出してきました。成形合板ならではのしなやかな曲線と、確かな職人技に支えられたものづくりによって、日本のモダンデザインを代表する存在として知られています。
